Chandigarh Government School Hosts U.S. Fulbright Teacher Delegation Chandigarh: Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 38 (West), DMC, Chandigarh, was selected to host a delegation of teachers from the United States under the prestigious Fulbright Program – Teachers for Global Classrooms, following a rigorous national selection process. Seven institutions from across India were shortlisted for the programme, including DPS Bengaluru, Kotak Mahindra Education Foundation (Mumbai), The Scindia School (Gwalior), St. Joseph Higher Secondary School (Thiruvananthapuram), SCERT Telangana, Government High School (Kolkata), and GMSSS-38 (West), Chandigarh. The school, under the leadership of Principal Ms. Neerja Jain, earned the distinction of representing Chandigarh in this international academic exchange. The week-long programme aimed to promote collaboration between Indian and American educators through the exchange of innovative teaching practices, classroom strategies, and global educational perspectives. During their stay, the visiting teachers will also experience India’s skill education initiatives, including Beauty and Wellness, Pottery, Mat Making, and Art Sculpture, while conducting workshops for around 40 government school teachers of the city. The delegation was accorded a traditional welcome followed by a cultural programme highlighting India’s rich heritage. During the school tour, the visitors explored the Pre-Primary Wing, Jadui Pitara, ATL Lab, Science and Mathematics Laboratories, Fine Arts Room, Beauty and Wellness Lab, Library, Eco Club, and CWSN Resource Centre. They also interacted with students and teachers and observed various initiatives promoting experiential, inclusive, learner-centred, and skill-based education in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The visit marked the beginning of a meaningful academic partnership aimed at sharing best practices, strengthening professional collaboration, and fostering cross-cultural understanding between educators from India and the United States.
